Laser Cladding Process Notes for Laminar Cooling Roller Repair

Laminar cooling is positioned between the finishing mill and coiler in a hot strip line. The transport rollers in this section are laminar cooling rollers. Their working conditions require dimensional restoration, surface hardness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance and high-temperature resistance to be considered together.

Workflow

TurningRemove the surface fatigue layer
InspectionCheck roller diameter and hardness, perform penetrant testing and confirm that no cracks remain
Preheating250-300 C
High-power laser claddingWear resistance, corrosion resistance, HRC55-HRC60 hardness and 800 C high-temperature resistance
Semi-finishingReserve 0.1 mm allowance on one side according to the finished roller diameter
Grinding and final inspectionMachine to drawing dimensions and surface roughness, then complete final inspection
